What is the Brazilian Bull?

The Brazilian Bull is the newest bull breed to be recognized by the ABKC.  Coming out of a concentrated effort of about 500 breeders in Brazil, the Brazilian Bull (formally coined as “The Pit Monster”) is a large, muscular breed bred for docile temperament and companionship with a focus on extreme muscle expression. With a focus on temperament and physique, the dogs are both a statement of expression as well as loyal family companions.

The breed is made up of a combination of blood from the American Bully, the Johnson Style American Bulldog and the American Pit Bull Terrier. Ideal blood combinations depend upon whether a breeder is breeding the more extreme version (which has more bulldog influence) or the standard version (which has more APBT influence).

The IBC (https://ibcdogs.org) is the official parent club and registry of the Brazilian Bull. https://ibcdogs.com.br/en/racas/pit-monster

The ABKC follows suit of the suggestions that the parent club holds and recognizes the breed as well as keeps official pedigrees. IBC members pay yearly dues and vote on changes with the breed standard. Like most legitimate breed clubs, members can hold offices like President, Vice President, Secretary, etc.
Breeders should heed the breed standard and breed according to what is agreed upon. This is how the breed has achieved a harmonious and homogeneous look in such a short period of time.

There are two varieties of Brazilian Bull: Standard and Extreme.

Breeders wishing to breed to the club agreed standard should study the dogs and pedigrees and strive to achieve the desired breed temperament and type.
